In certain religious contexts, the covering and uncovering of hair is a deeply debated topic. As I watched this story of Mahsa I was deeply triggered. Although Christians do not have the same level of control that this Iranian morality police has, many have behaved as though they should. Many Christians would condemn the actions of the Iranian government and in the next breath tell girls to keep their hair long and not tempt boys with their bodies.

It’s been a long week. Travel, watching funerals

It’s been a long week. Travel, watching funerals, car issues, best and worst of humanity moments in my life and on a broad scale. Kind people who helped me, selfish people who have no compassion. Protests against morality police in Iran. Lost items in the home causing lost tempers. Eggs on church windows.
It can hard to #findthefruit when people show their ugliness. But it’s like a secret garden waiting for discovery if you are willing to pay attention.

You cannot change someone’s mind who is unwillin

You cannot change someone’s mind who is unwilling to have their mind changed. And many people are unwilling to have their minds changed. So what do you do? You learn which conversations to lean in and which to walk away from. That depends on your energy, your conviction and who you are conversing with. Part of being an adult is learning which conversations are a priority. So ask yourself
1. Is this necessary?
2. Am I able to be kind?
3. Should I set a boundary in this relationship?
