Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are childr Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
Psalm 127:4-5
The Quiverfull movement takes its name from the above verse. It is prevalent among pro-life persons as well. What I find fascinating is that it does not take the concept of poetic language or the mortality rate of childbirth into consideration at all.
In the world of the Psalms, the blessing of children would be because those children survived to adulthood, that woman was able to birth more than one child who lived. Lilac kisses on the breeze Grasses bent and spread Lilac kisses on the breeze
Grasses bent and spreading seeds
Peony bosoms welcome in
Butterfly wings and bees that hum
Chickadees nest in willow boughs
Mourning doves coo in the apple blooms
Distant rumbles high above
Drizzles settle dust below
Earth is soft with life and light
